Interactive Mapping Exercises Using DIY Touchtables

This is a silent 30 second video with footage from the mapping exercises we did on Cape Cod and in Somerville, MA. The video was part of a presentation given at the Ford Foundation's 75th anniversary event "Just City," July 14, 2011.

Narration: Computer mapping has long provided planners with powerful tools to envision, analyze, and display the potential consequences of community development decisions. Today these tools are becoming increasingly accessible and interactive. In Massachusetts, on Cape Cod and in Somerville, residents used low cost touchtables to work directly with maps, gain quick access to information, brainstorm on strategies, and on Cape Cod, get immediate feedback on the impact of their choices on key indicators.
