The Interagency Transportation, Land Use, and Climate Change Pilot Project - Cape Cod, Massachusetts

PlaceMatters led a team including Placeways, LLC and the University of Colorado Denver Center for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems and Transportation Research Center to create an interactive scenario planning exercise to examine the impacts of various housing and employment scenarios on greenhouse gas emissions and vulnerability to sea level rise on Cape Cod.

Plan Fort Collins - Fort Collins, Colorado

Far Northeast Community Committee 2010 - Denver, Colorado

The Far Northeast Community Committee (FNECC) represented a collaborative eight month process to help the Denver Public Schools District (DPS) identify a viable set of recommendations for changing and improving six underperforming schools in the area and increasing student achievement.   PlaceMatters provided facilitation, meeting planning, and participation tools and techniques in support of the effort, specifically developing a translation module for our Brainstorm Anywhere tool to allow Spanish-speakers to participate fully in the meeting.

Missouri River Ecosystem Restoration Plan - Central and Eastern Montana

The Missouri River Ecosystem Restoration Plan (MRERP) process is an ambitious project spanning a 2,300-mile river system, six mainstem dams, and seven states.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is leading this effort to produce a long-term river management, restoration, mitigation, and recovery plan for the entire Missouri River Basin.

Wichita Downtown Revitalization Master Plan - Wichita, Kansas

PlaceMatters partnered with Goody Clancy to help Wichita, Kansas create a Revitalization Master Plan for its downtown. PlaceMatters' work focused on using online tools, mobile technologies, and the AnyWare suite of tools for public meetings to help Wichita citizens create a common vision for the revitalization of their downtown. 

Otay Ranch Green Development Planning - Chula Vista, California

PlaceMatters worked with partners to develop a comprehensive, innovative, community-scale model for energy efficiency and sustainable resource management for the 15,000-acre Otay Ranch development in Chula Vista, California. When complete, this transit-oriented development between San Diego and Tijuana will accommodate 70,000 additional residents in 23,732 new dwelling units, distributed among several walkable "urban villages."

Watershed Planning Project - Amador & Calaveras Counties, California

From March to May 2008, PlaceMatters worked in partnership with Placeways, LLC and the Local Government Commission (LGC) to develop and deliver an interactive, educational workshop for citizens of California's Amador and Calaveras Counties, in the Sierra Nevada foothills "Gold Country." ­The workshop attracted about 100 members of the community and took advantage of CommunityViz analysis, keypad polling, and hands-on mapping exercises, all supplemented with expert lectures, to help citizens understand interactions between land use and water.

Presidential Climate Action Plan

PlaceMatters worked with the University of Colorado, Denver and other partners to help create the 2008 Presidential Climate Action Plan. By the time President Obama took office, the window of opportunity to prevent economic and environmental hardships and increasing global tensions due to climate change was one-third gone.

LANDvisions - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

PlaceMatters worked with several partners on the Philadelphia LANDvisions project to help citizens envision a future for the city's vacant lands.  With over 40, 000 vacant properties, Philadelphia had become one of the nation's foremost examples of urban abandonment and sprawl.  The lands were fertile ground for imagining solutions that use ecology to shape urban form and inspire change. 

Lyons Comprehensive Plan Update - Lyons, Colorado

PlaceMatters and Civil Resources partnered with the Town of Lyons to update the town comprehensive plan.  Lyons was especially interested in revitalizing its downtown, making it a destination instead of a place to drive through to reach the mountains.

PlaceMatters and Civil Resources incorporated information from a recent economic development study with extensive public input from three large public workshops to capture the Town’s vision for the future.
